2008 New Zealand Culinary Fare

Every year, the Restaurant Association of New Zealand host the New Zealand Culinary Fare, part of the Hospitality New Zealand event held this year from August 31 to September 2 in Auckland.  The Fare is made up of 60 competitions covering both the kitchen and restaurant sides of the industry allowing competitors to showcase skills with their counterparts, and compete for prestigious awards and prizes.

The New Zealand Tamarillo Growers Association are a proud sponsor of one of the competitions at this event, the Cold Dessert (Junior) Class.  The criteria for this class is to display two portions of the same dessert each individually plated.  Tamarillos must feature prominently throughout the dessert and the use of Tamarillos either on top or to the side of the cold dessert is encouraged.

 

Members of the NZTGA Executive Committee attended the event, and were impressed by the quality of all entrants, and the event itself, a great showcase of the Restuarant Association and its industry.  Craig Watson, Manager of the NZTGA, was on hand to present the overall award and a luxury hamper to Morgan Thacker from the Blanket Bay Lodge.
